Four methods to determine if a motorcycle is equipped with ABS
Time:2025-10-16

1. Instrument panel self-check method

When starting the vehicle, the ABS fault light will illuminate for about 3 seconds and then turn off. If it stays on or suddenly illuminates while driving, it indicates that there is a fault in the system.

Some vehicle models will indicate the "ABS" logo on the dashboard or flash an icon to indicate the system's working status.

2. Hardware detection method

Wheel speed sensor: Check whether there is a metal sensing disc (with a toothed ring) and a fixed sensor near the wheel. This is the core component of ABS.

ABS pump: Located in the middle of the frame (such as below the fuel tank or near the rear wheels), it is small in size but comes with hydraulic lines, which can be observed through gaps in the vehicle body.

3. Brake testing method

When braking suddenly on a dry road at a speed of 40km/h or above, if the brake pedal feels like it is pulsing frequently (15-20 times per second) and the wheels are not locked, the ABS is functioning properly.

Note: This operation requires ensuring safety, and it is recommended to prioritize testing the rear wheels.

4. Regulation and labeling verification

New regulations for 2025: Motorcycles with a displacement of 150cc or more are required to be equipped with ABS, while models with a displacement of 125cc to 150cc must bear ABS or CBS markings.

Body label: Some models have the "ABS" mark on the fender or frame, or the configuration can be confirmed through the manual.
